Kaillow is in temporary schooling for photography classes! She's only here because her Poseidon offered to take her on the family's ship to Everton since Poseidon is staying in Terra for a year. Kaillow is very glad Poseidon's family love her and accept her as Poseidon's current girlfriend. Makes her feel better about staying with them and calling her girlfriend's family her own  since Kaillow's birth family rejected her for "going against norms" for simply loving the same sex. Which Kaillow does not understand how that makes sense and how it goes against the family traditions of making clothing. She guesses it's originally for the fact she wanted to do photography and also just decided to reject her for choice in women.

However her time in Everton is making her get used to speaking verbally. Salachimors don't have a "vocal" language, due to her air passageways the locals remark on her "accent." She finds that there's often no languages used for the Lepidopterans that also lost or born without their voice. In her free time she tries to teach them the salachimor language which is just called "sign" by her peers.

She vaguely remembers that there's this whole folktale in the Gaia islands that a "planet" taught the Salachimors how to speak before the war approximately a thousand years ago. There's so many details that Kaillow did not care about to remember so she has to ask Poseidon that one day. The story just reminds her of the situation she's in now.
