They are pre-humans evolving from butterflies, who in their times of struggle had to form mouths to be able to feed off the blood of other animals to be predators. No one knows for sure how they ended up this way, folktales said that it was a butterfly that first made a wish. This is why the Lepidopterans and the celestials in the sky have a close relationship due to their ability to communicate.
Of course, time is linear and the world and the creatures in it change.
Eventually Lepidopterans became self sustaining to be the new humans in this dream world.
despite the artistic style pasta tends to draw, lepidopterans have black tongues and insides. They also lack pupils at all, sharing a few traits of their ancestors, butterflies, which are compounded. Evolution is trying to undo that.
Even if they look "animal-like" they're ancestors of insects! Their hair they stylize is just scales, which resembles a lot more like hair nowadays. They often have longer portions of hair over their actual ears and it's currently popular in Everton to style them like animal ears (It's cute!) but cutting the hair off serves no harm (except style)
Lepidopterans are completely unable to see the halos on the heads of stars and the planets, this is because of their compounded eyes and the light the halos reflect make it unable to see them. Other species that do have pupils like salachimors are able to see them but most just assume it's another fashion trend due to lack of knowledge.
Only exceptions are Lepidopterans that came from flowers instead of butterflies, such as Hermes, who can see the halos.
They have many, many, folk tales and myths regarding their history. They're known to record everything in the past.
Due to their separation from nature, they are unable to communicate with the salachimors or able to see the many varieties of fairies that live around them.
Of course another myth goes with that, that you may able to see the fairies as a Lepidopteran by falling into a paerin circle but, there are chances of never coming back to the normal realm. It's rumored that many people disappeared due to getting trapped in paerin circle.
One exception to never record history about, is the sacred mirror. All information about it has to be word of mouth due to the fear of destruction of it. Many believe it is the reason why Eden itself exists in the physical realm, as it links the many shards of Eden together as a whole. Shatter the mirror and everything falls back and collapses, waiting for a new dream to take it's place.
